Multi-point rocker jaws are designed to overcome two problems associated with gripping thin walled components, like rings. Firstly, they give six points of grip equally spaced around the component. This reduces the "tri lobing" distortion experienced with three point gripping of thin walled components. Secondly the rocking mechanism compensates for any out of roundness in the gripped diameter of the component. This out of roundness can otherwise be a problem, especially with forgings or castings, as without compensation, the finished component can have uneven wall thickness between cast and machined surfaces.
Our multi-point rocker jaws have on each of the three jaws a rocking arm which provides two clamping faces at 60º to the center of the chuck, these positions take standard hard gripper inserts. The base jaw also takes a fixed soft segment, which can be machined to clamp your workpiece contour or complete diameter.
	ASSEMBLY OF ROCKER JAW SYSTEM Each assembly comes complete with: BASE JAW, ROCKER JAW, ROCKER BOLT AND HARD GRIPPER INSERTS. A complete set of multi-point rocker jaws will cover a specific range of clamping diameters. Using standard height pins can vary the depth of grip. The low cost gripping inserts are easily changed when worn or damaged.
If our standard size assemblies do not cover your requirement or chuck we can manufacture a custom assembly. Internal rocker jaw systems can also be designed and manufactured.
